Travel Guide: Picture Perfect Spots in Acadia National Park

Acadia National Park

Acadia National Park is a stunning national park located across 47,000-acre of Maine’s coast. Acadia National Park is located right outside Bar Harbor and is the perfect getaway for camping, hiking, picnics, or a scenic drive. With 47,000-acres, the park can definitely get overwhelming. This is why I composed a list of the top picture-perfect spots in Acadia National Park which is perfect for people who don’t have a lot of time to visit the national park and the best part, all these spots are easily accessible by driving. This means that you’re easily able to view all the landmarks listed below in the span of one day.

Jordan’s Pond

Jordan’s Pond is a breathtaking spot. There are many different areas that overlook Jordan’s Pond, however, following the signs on the Acadia National Park Scenic Drive will lead you right towards the Jordan’s Pond trail which brings you up and close to the pond. This area is perfect for picnics, but even more stunning for photos.

If you want to get a more stunning view of the whole pond, hike up the North Bubble Trail. You’ll find the North and South Bubble Trail right before the Jordan’s Pond trail. The higher you go on the North Bubble, the more stunning the views get. The hike itself is pretty short,  about 20 minute or so to the top, however, it is decently steep so make sure to use precaution when hiking the trail.

Cadillac Mountain

Probably one of the most famous spots in Acadia National Park is Cadillac Mountain. Driving or hiking up to the mountain is extremely popular to see “the nation’s first sunrise.” During certain times of the year, Cadillac Mountain is the first spot in the United States to see the sunrise. There are tons of different hiking trails of all difficulty levels or you can simply drive up to the top. Whether you are seeing Cadillac Mountain during the sunrise or sunset, the view is simply amazing and definitely picture-perfect.

Sand Beach

Sand Beach is one of the most popular points for people to visit. Driving up to the beach, you’re able to park and be within a five-minute walk from the 290-yard long beach. However, trails like the Great Head Hiking Trail provides a stunning view overlooking the whole beach. The water itself is pretty chilly, due to its location. However, it is a family friendly spot, perfect for brave kids.

Bass Harbor Head Light

The Bass Harbor Head Light is another popular stop in Acadia National Park. this lighthouse is located in Tremont, Maine on the southwest part of the national park. The lighthouse is open from 9:00 AM to sunset and is definitely busy at sunset due to the incredible shots that can be taken. Although we didn’t go during sunset, it’s still a beautiful spot for photos.

Seal Cove

If you make your way out to the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, make sure to stop at Seal Cove. Known to the locals as “the backside” this cove is home to local’s boats, a lovely bike path, and seal! If you want to spot some seals, make sure to pack a lunch and be patient. We were lucky enough to see one swimming nearby!
